We got into Anchorage late in the afternoon, picked up our R.V., and went shopping for food and stuff. We then headed north and camped out in a State Park Campground on the banks of a river for the evening about 30 miles north of Anchorage. The next morning, we headed north toward Denali National Park. We stopped along the way to view the Ruth Glacier, and then continued toward Denali. About half a mile from the park entrance, just after cresting the top of a hill, we slowed due to traffic and stopped cars. Looking around, we saw this Brown (Grizzly) bear ambling along by the side of the road, munching on berries. I got out the camera and took a few shots from 50 yards away - this is a small chunk of one of the pictures. This was the closest we got to a bear the whole time in Alaska (and just as well).
