Ahh, a picture of Canyonlands without those damn tourists. You can see some of the buttes and fins sticking up here - some of which rise up to 300 feet above the canyon floor. We took a few short hikes, including one to the "Salt Dome". The "Salt Dome" actually looks like a meteorite impact crater, although a competing theory states that it formed from an upwelling of salt under the ground.

If you want primitive, go to Canyonlands. We only visited the "Island in the Sky" region.
