CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK

This picture shows Deanie and Zach at Capitol Reef with the "Golden Throne" in the background. The 2 mile hike up to this viewpoint took about 1-1/4 hours. Not many people take this hike, so if you like isolation, you can get it here. The hike starts at the end of the 12 mile scenic drive, the last few miles of which rest in a dry "wash", which becomes less than dry during rainstorms. We also took a hike up to Hickman Bridge (about 1 mile each way).

The campground and picnic area at Capitol Reef have a lot of foliage and reside in the midst of numerous fruit orchards, left over from settler days.
