GRAND CANYON - SOUTH RIM

X.

The air had a lot of haze in it while we were at the south rim, so the pictures show up pretty white. Here, Zach and I sit on an outcropping of rock about 1 1/2 miles down the South Kaibab trail decending into the Grand Canyon. We have decended about 700 feet below the rim at this point. From there we could see the trail below decending to the Colorado river. Deanie and I had colds while at the south rim, so we found the hiking difficult, but more than worth the trouble. We very much enjoyed the ranger led hike down the South Kaibab trail. Bizarre story about an exploding dead mule.

Be sure to take in the Grand Canyon ranger evening programs at the amphitheatre.

You can retrieve a lot of information on Hiking the Grand Canyon, or on the Grand Canyon in general.
