GREAT SAND DUNES

Here you see Deanie standing in the campground of the Great Sand Dunes National Monument. You can see the dunes towering in the background. In early May, very few visitors come to the monument, and the campground couldn't have had more than 1/3 of the spaces taken, if that. The drive down the San Luis valley, with mountains off on either side, was spectacular, and we could see the dunes from 50 miles away through the wind blown dust.
